Sneezewood is a fine-grained, hard wood with a warm yellow to orange honey colour with hints of pink. In Mozambique it is the preferred wood for xylophone keys. Highly irritant, aromatic peppery oils are produced by the wood, causing violent sneezing by woodworkers after sawing or sanding.
Sneezewood is a favourite among woodturners, suitable for ornamental work as it turns and polishes very well.
